Introducing Alienity

Here’s the blurb of my new collection of short stories.

H.G. Wells faces judgment by one of his creations. The Earth’s first tour guide for aliens encounters the planet’s worst ever tourist. The fate of Humanity lies in the hands of the most isolated man in its history. The Kefloins, having secured membership to the Galactic Congress for the Earth, now turn to the planet’s ambassador with their most terrible secret in the hope she can find a solution.

Four short stories about aliens ranging from humorous to deadly somber.

Currently available on Amazon.

And The Winner is…

Behold the winning cover my new short story, No Escape. It’s by Ivan Cakic (Cakamura Art Studio). For me, he really captured the essence of the story. The face of the main figure is particularly mesmeric.

I can’t wait to hit to the publish button in mid-January. It’ll be available on Amazon, iBooks, B&N, etc. Here’s the blurb.

A desperate warrior carries a baby girl across a foreign desert. Although truth and honor are tattooed on his cheeks, Tharo has abandoned both virtues in his quest to protect his charge. But it’s only a matter of time before he fails her. Another man stalks them, a hunter no prey can escape, the dreaded Souldiviner.

Help Me Choose A Cover! No Escape

I need your help! I have a choice of three covers for my new fantasy short story, No Escape. Please help me choose the best one. Which one is your immediate favorite? Any comments are really welcome.

The poll is now closed! Thanks to everyone who participated. Anyone who left their names will be mentioned in the ebook’s acknowledgements.

The Fate Healer

I have published a new short story, The Fate Healer, on Amazon.

The genealogist Draston is charged with the impossible. His master, Hamvok the Merciful, craves a royal ancestor or two to legitimize his tyranny. But every avenue of Draston’s research comes to a dead end. Nobility has never sneezed on Hamvok’s ancestors, much less married into them. And now Draston’s time has run out.
To save himself from Hamvok’s violent displeasure, Draston promises to prove the tyrant is descended from a god. In doing so, he commits himself to a path of forgery and sacrilege. His enterprise will risk the wrath of gods. But, far worse, it will draw him to a shadowy figure more terrible than all the gods combined, the Fate Healer.

The cover was supplied by The Cover Collection. Here’s something that may interest those interested in typography. The H is a different font from the rest of the title as the original H looked too much like a small h. The change really suits the theme. 🙂

And the Winning Cover Is…

The following cover design by Paula Becattini.

You can find more of her work at or (The latter is under construction at the moment.)

I am indebted to everyone who voted in the poll. As thanks I’ve included anyone who left their names in the Acknowledgements.

The mobi version of the Parting Gift will be published on Amazon on 6th November.

Cover Reveal: The Unconquered Sun

I just received a round of edits of The Unconquered Sun, resulting in the usual array of vowel sounds (ooh, eh? ah, aha, etc), followed by cracking knuckles and feverish typing. The release date will be confirmed when the book is more advanced through the editing process. In the meantime, to wet your appetites, below is the cover, again by Marek Purzychi. It matches pretty well with the cover for A Bright Power Rising. I was a bit queasy about moving my name further up the cover, Frankly, if the Golden Rule was a trilogy, I wouldn’t have agreed to it. But I think it captures the Sol Invictus motif spectacularly.  Hopefully, what will be behind the cover will be as good.

In other news, the short story which will hopefully be released before The Unconquered Sun has also been submitted for editing. More details on it shortly.

Updated Cover For A Bright Power Rising.

A Bright Power Rising has a new cover! The image remains the same but the titling has been updated to better fit with the cover of The Unconquered Sun.

The cover is already up on Amazon.  The paperback will be available from Createspace by the end of the week, hopefully.

I know that having a series matching is important to many people so anybody who purchased/received the paperback/ebook with the old cover please feel free to contact me at

It is my pleasure to reveal the awesome cover of Ronel van Tonder’s new book.

In a world where arrogant leaders force-feed their supplicants with lies and abuse, freedom is an illusion. This terrifying future, that harbours such insidious undertones, turns hope into a darker shade of despair.

But there will be a reckoning.

16 March 2036: Black Sunday. For 24 hours, solar storms ravage the world. Earth is plunged into darkness. Our way of life is destroyed. But mankind conquers this apocalypse.

Domes are erected to shield a percentage of earth’s population from the devastating radiation. Nothing gets in. And no one gets out. But, in a world where money no longer exists and denizens have everything they need, freedom can become… subjective.

Black Sunday refugees, those that didn’t make it into the domes, survive by digging extensive underground housing networks. These diggers remain paralysed by need, scratching an existence from the sun-scorched savannas above their colonies.

Now, three hundred years later, only a handful of unscrupulous individuals from each half of this discordant world still have knowledge of their opposing sides.

A Utopian Prison
Peppermint lives a shameless life filled to the brim with hedonistic pleasures. And is completely unaware of the bloodbath planned for mankind. When she discovers she’s a psi, with the ability to see into the future or the past, her world collapses. Can Peppermint ever hope to control her powers and regain her freedom? Or is she destined to spend her life as a slave of the elite?

A Ruthless Military Dictatorship
Jinx, a brazen and volatile soldier, is on the hunt for revenge. The search for her mother’s killer lands her in the center of a rival digger colony. But can she withstand the shocking revelation her hunt reveals? Or have her mistakes plunged her into a depraved nightmare she doesn’t have the courage to escape?

And while both women struggle with their new realities, a conspiracy centuries in the making is nearing its climax. Can Peppermint and Jinx remain true to themselves while taking a stand for our most valued human right?

Or is freedom as unattainable as truth?

COMPILE:QUEST is a feast of intrigue, conspiracies, and suspense – guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat from the first chapter to the last. This dystopian sci-fi novel is neither lacking in imagination nor scope.

Do you have the nerves to follow this terrifying tale to its epic finale?

Website LInk:

Ronel is a brand-spanking new indie author. She loves creating fantastical worlds set in the future, the mythical, and the horrific. Translate: She writes science-fiction, fantasy and horror novels.

Her life story is not particularly fascinating, but her love of technology, PC games and writing is. Beside writing, she spends her time slaying rendered baddies in the form of robots, gangsters and aliens – with any weapon that happens to be at hand.

Ronel has published her first science-fiction book, Compile:Quest. She’s currently hard at work creating the second book in the Corrupted SUN Script trilogy. When she’s not writing, she’s gaming, and when she’s not gaming she’s either sleeping or eating, as these are prerequisites for a continued life on planet Earth.
